Being a linux-guy for approximately 20 years and growing up in a foundry and metal shop makes me just love LinuxCNC. As a daytime job i work as a computer programmer with linux servers (especially ubuntu), so it felt like home from the first minute. Since the hard realtime kernel is immune to load problems you can flog the cpu as much as you want without interfering with the quality of the machined part. This really cries out loud to combine classic linux magic with machining parts. This is what this category is all about.
